Statement on the President's violent rhetoric, illegal war, and escalation against Iran

Chris Bennett, CA-03, Courage Candidate, issues statement regarding the President's increasingly dangerous rhetoric and unlawful war against Iran.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, April 7, 2026

SACRAMENTO, CA – The President of the United States is threatening mass violence on the people of Iran. This is unhinged, power-drunk aggression at a historic and dangerous scale.

When a president speaks this way, it puts lives at risk and drags both our country and the world as a whole closer to catastrophic, irreversible violence. We have seen where this kind of rhetoric leads, and we cannot afford to ignore it.

Day one in Congress I am committed to supporting articles of impeachment, alongside other Courage Candidates, to hold this administration accountable and prevent further abuse of power.

But the questions right now are immediate: Why won’t Congress check the criminal and dangerous actions of the President? Why is Congress in recess when the president is threatening nuclear escalation? Why is Congress allowing the President to wage an illegal and unjust war on Iran?

We need leaders who will stand up, take action, and use every tool available to stop this before more damage is done. I am calling on Congress to immediately reconvene and put an end to all illegal military action in Iran and elsewhere.

Their actions now will impact millions of lives and shape history for decades to come. They have a duty, not just as politicians but as human beings, to put an end to this senseless violence and destruction.
